The world of sneakerheads, streetwear enthusiasts, and k-pop lovers wait in a standstill, in anticipation for G-Dragon’s second take on the highly popular PEACEMINUSONE x Nike Air Force 1 ‘Para-Noise 2.0’ drop.
The Popularity of G-Dragon PEACEMINUSONE x Nike Air Force 1 Low ‘Para-noise’
As covered in a previous article on the popularity of G-Dragon’s PEACEMINUSONE x Nike Air Force 1 Low ‘Para-noise,’ the impact of the sneaker was paramount, with the coveted shoe selling out in a matter of hours upon its initial release. Labeled as “a collective progressive outlook centered around creativity,” the shoe retailed for about US$187 and has reached a resale value for US$3,000.
The rapper, song-songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, and fashion designer from South Korea is widely known as the King of K-Pop, and now with his latest Nike collab as a sneaker enthusiast and designer. The original black sneaker paint is meant to slowly wear away over time, eventually revealing artwork created by the artist himself. The sneaker’s tongue features G-Dragon’s PEACEMINUSONE daisy logo, playing to the memorable brand name of the series.
G-Dragon as a Fashion Icon
While G-Dragon’s fashion sense has arguably been categorized as unisex, this ability to blend in with any style, colour, and aesthetic look has garnered him the status of a pop fashion icon.
Before officially collaborating with Nike, G-Dragon was associated with many luxury, top-level brands, getting endorsements from major department stores like Shinsegae to Hyundai. The k-pop star was also Asia’s first GIVENCHY muse and is stated to be the only Korean to be CHANEL’s muse and Global Ambassador.
G-Dragon’s PEACEMINUSONE x Nike Air Force 1 ‘Para-noise 2.0’
Following the massive success of the first shoe and upon his recent release from the military, G-Dragon is set to release the PEACEMINUSONE x Nike Air Force 1 ‘Para-noise 2.0.’ While the first version came with a black painted top and black accents on the white midsole, the Para-Noise 2.0 comes in an inverted colour scheme.
The shoe is made out of premium upper leather covered in white paint. The paint peels away to reveal a base featuring original artwork by the artist himself, no different to the previous Para-noise 1.
