Real Madrid 26/27 Home Kit: What’s New, and How It Compares to Recent Seasons

5 Mins read

A Real Madrid home shirt is white. It has been white since 1902, it will be white in 2027, and no designer at adidas has ever been given permission to change that.

Which means the entire creative history of the Madrid home kit lives in the trim. The collar. The cuffs. The Three Stripes. Whatever colour adidas decides to run alongside the white that season — and over the last four seasons that colour has swung from gold and navy, to plain black, to yellow and grey, and now, for 26/27, to something genuinely unprecedented: dark green, paired with pink.

If you’re deciding which Real Madrid home shirt to buy, the differences matter more than “it’s the white one.” Here’s how the 26/27 home kit compares with the three seasons before it.

The 26/27 Home Kit

adidas unveiled the shirt on 3 June 2026, and the design brief was the club crest — specifically, the crown sitting on top of it.

The white base carries a subtle tonal jacquard pattern across the front, back and sleeves, drawn from the geometry of the diamonds and pearls in that crown. It’s a texture you notice in person far more than in product photos. The collar and sleeve cuffs are dark green with their own patterning, and the Three Stripes on the shoulders are pink — the detail that split opinion when the kit dropped.

The adidas logo and the Emirates Fly Better sponsor are both rendered in matching dark green. Inside the collar, “RMCF” is knitted into the fabric, with a gold Authentic Licensed Product sign-off near the hem.

White shorts with pink stripes and dark green trim complete the strip. It got its first outing in a closed-doors pre-season friendly against CD Leganés on 28 July 2026.

Tech: the authentic version uses Climacool+ with a slim match fit, engineered jacquard construction and a heat-applied crest to cut weight. The replica uses standard Climacool with interlock fabric, a regular fit and an embroidered crest.

How It Compares to Recent Seasons

The white never moves. The accent colour is the entire story — and over three seasons it’s swung across the whole spectrum.

Three details the table can’t carry. The 25/26 was framed around the Bernabéu renovation but its palette is a direct homage to the 2009-10 and 2015-16 shirts, and it shipped with brown shorts as an alternative to white. The 24/25 looks plain and isn’t — a houndstooth pattern is woven into the HEAT.RDY fabric, inspired by the parpusa hats worn as part of traditional chulapo dress at Madrid’s San Isidro festival. And the 23/24 was the first shirt in club history to carry “¡Hala Madrid!” printed on the collar.

There’s a pattern in those references. 23/24 was an abstract identity exercise, 24/25 pulled from Madrid street culture, 25/26 pointed at the stadium, and 26/27 points at the crest itself. adidas has moved from mood to object across four seasons, and the shirts have gotten better for it.

One thing that isn’t constant: the sleeve. adidas has supplied every one of these shirts and Emirates has been on the front throughout, but HP became Real Madrid’s first-ever sleeve sponsor in the club’s 121-year history, announced on 2 February 2024 and worn for the first time against Atlético Madrid two days later.

That lands mid-season, which makes 23/24 the one shirt here with two versions — earlier production carries a bare sleeve, later production carries HP. Worth checking the product images rather than assuming. The 24/25, 25/26 and 26/27 shirts all carry it from the start.

The HP deal also runs only to the end of the 2026-27 season, so this year’s shirt is the last of them unless it’s renewed.

Which Shirts Should You Buy?

The 26/27 if you want what the squad wears this season. It’s the only Madrid home shirt ever made with dark green on it, and the pink Three Stripes make it identifiable at a glance in a way the 24/25 simply isn’t.

The 24/25 if you want something quiet. Plain white and black, hidden houndstooth, no loud accent. It works with the most outfits and dates the slowest.

The 23/24 if you want the most decorated. Navy and gold tricolour trim, navy side panels, and the first “¡Hala Madrid!” collar in the club’s history.

Two things worth factoring in. If you’re buying for a specific player, check the squad against the season — Mbappé, Bellingham and Vinícius Júnior are all on the 26/27 shirt, and older shirts carry different rosters. And Real Madrid turn 125 on 6 March 2027, with a commemorative shirt expected around then, reportedly all-white with tonal sponsors and the club’s original 1902 crest in navy. Nothing is confirmed — but it’s a reason not to spend the whole budget on 26/27.

On authentic versus replica: for match-going, everyday wear or casual collecting, the replica is the sensible buy. Go authentic if you’re actually playing in it, or you want the exact spec the players wore. Expect roughly a £30 gap between them.

All four seasons are on Novelship — the current 26/27 alongside the three that came before it, every shirt authenticated in-house before it ships. Older seasons thin out in the popular sizes first, so if you’re after a specific year it’s worth checking availability before you settle on one.

FAQ's

When was the Real Madrid 26/27 home kit released?

3 June 2026. It made its on-pitch debut in a closed-doors pre-season friendly against CD Leganés on 28 July 2026.

Why is there a pink stripe on the Real Madrid home shirt?

The pink Three Stripes are part of the 26/27 design concept, drawn from the diamonds and pearls in the crown on the club crest. Dark green handles the collar and cuffs; pink provides the contrast on the shoulders. It’s the first Madrid home kit to use either colour in this combination.

Has Real Madrid ever used green on a home shirt before?

No. Dark green has never appeared on a Real Madrid home kit prior to 26/27, which is what made the reveal genuinely surprising rather than just a new colourway.

What is the pattern on the 26/27 home shirt?

A subtle tonal jacquard woven across the front, back and sleeves, based on the geometry of the diamonds and pearls in the crown on the club crest. It’s a texture rather than a print, so it’s much more visible in person than in product photography.
