COMMON DEFECTS

PRODUCT ORIGIN

Manufacturers outsource most of their production, and they have factories worldwide. As a result, products are distributed to different countries and may have different labels. For example, a product sold in China may have a different label or version when sold in Southeast Asia.

To explore further, you can refer to the Adidas Supplier List and the Nike Manufacturing Map .

PRODUCTION

Shoes may have different manufacturing dates on the inside labels, and it's not uncommon for the manufacturing date to differ from one side to another. Manufacturers don't produce all shoes of the same model simultaneously. Hence, shoes from the same box may have different production dates on each side of the label.

label

Having different production dates on shoes is not a sign of fake products or seller swaps. It's a common misunderstanding that all shoes from the same release are made at the same time. Therefore, it's possible for shoes to have varying production dates on each side or compared to other pairs seen online.

You should be concerned if the production dates are after the initial product release date. For example, if a product was released in 2018, but the production date is 2022, it may raise questions about the product's authenticity.

WEAR AND TEAR

Please note that wear and tear can occur in shoes after a certain period, regardless of time since release, as products are commonly produced months ahead of official release. Structural weakness and lack of durability are common in products released a long time ago. Chemical used in sneaker construction can cause them to break down over time, leading to cracks and crumbling. As a buyer, it's essential to understand the risk associated with purchasing a shoe that has been released years ago. Neither the manufacturer, distributor, nor supplier has full control over this. Therefore, it's essential to consider these factors when buying sneakers.

MATERIALS

Should a buyer feel that the product feels “off” because your product does not match a similar product you inspected in-store, or the same product your friend has bought, fret now as this is not uncommon. For larger brands producing sneakers, they produce from multiple factories, and often via factories located in different markets. These factories/shoemakers do not share the same manufacturing process, and may not have the same quality control standards too. There will be differences between shoes, even if they are the same model number and size. Even within the same release, the feel of the product can be different as the materials may not have come from the same batch. This results in differences in texture, finish and firmness.

If you are concerned about the "rough finish" instead of the “smooth usual finish”, please note that the latest restock comes with a Rough Finish. For example, the texture on Yeezy slides tend to change from one release to another.

Another common area of concern is creasing. This does not always mean a sneaker is used, as all shoes will crease over time depending on the materials used. There’s nothing to panic about if you can see them on the shoes you purchased.

It is normal for shoes to have a strong smell. The smell is often a result of the various chemicals used in the manufacturing process, including glue, coatings, dyes, and other materials. If the shoe is made from leather, the duration of exposure to these chemicals can also contribute to the intensity of the strong smell.

Lastly, due to the material used some shoes are prone to cracking which is common. This is not an indication that the shoe is fake. The cracking can mostly be found in the area where the specific material is placed. But commonly, we encounter crackings from the heel tab and shoe box of the product. Please understand that it is the nature of the design and material used to manufacture the product. It also varies from pair to pair similar to most other Nike products such as SB dunk low elephant dunk, the prints and material are inconsistent and some are flat with no texture.

To find the right size for a product on Novelship, it is recommended to refer to the brand's official size charts, fits, and specifications. This information can usually be found on the brand's website or through online research.

Alternatively, you may also refer to the size chart found on the product page

Another example is the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 'Cream White / Triple White (SKU: CP9366)' and ADIDAS YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 'DAZZLING BLUE' (SKU: GY7164) . The 'Cream White / Triple White' is an old release (United States: April 29, 2017, and Singapore: January 25, 2021), while the 'DAZZLING BLUE' is a newly released product (United States: February 26, 2022). Although they belong to the same lineup, the 'Cream White / Triple White' is one size larger than the 'DAZZLING BLUE'.

Here are some reasons for the variation in sizes:

  1. Different Shoe Designs: Most brands have various shoe designs created with distinct goals in mind.
  2. Materials Used: The materials used in the shoes can affect the size and fit.
  3. Brand-Specific Sizing: Brands develop their own sizing systems, which can vary between releases. Each shoe manufacturer has their unique shapes and sizes.

Therefore, it's crucial to conduct your own research and refer to the brand's official size charts before making a purchase.
